We continue to see Linux OS gain momentum in a number of industries. With this increase in usage comes a need to continue to amp up security across the OS. Citrix is always working to bring the latest security features to Citrix Workspace app for Linux and give customers more choice and peace of mind when deploying Linux-based workstations.

That’s why we are excited to announce full support for app protection in Citrix Workspace app for Linux 2108. App protection is an anti-screen capture, anti-keylogging, and anti-screensharing feature. The feature was previously only available for Windows and MacOS. We are excited to extend our any-device approach by bringing this capability to Linux.

The feature support is now available with the Debian, Tarball, and RPM Linux packages. For the Tarball and Debian packages, the app protection components are part of the installation process. Take a closer look at the installation methods on my previous blog.

For RPM packages, the app protection component is available as a separate package and can be used to make the feature available in the Citrix Workspace app for Linux. You can find this on our downloads page.

A demo of the anti-screen capture behavior is shown in this animation:

When the anti-screen capture component from app protection is enabled for Linux, the whole virtual desktop window appears as a black box, as shown in the animation above.

Please note, the authentication and self-service plugin screen can be protected by the change in AuthManconfig.xml. Learn more here.

We can’t wait for you to try out app protection in your Linux environments. For more detailed information on app protection, check out our product documentation. Download Citrix Workspace app for Linux today, and keep an eye out for new and interesting features to come!
