Can you believe it?! Google Chrome OS is 10 years old! Ten years ago, this “affordable” computing device, that wasn’t a Windows or MAC OS, hit the market and we have never been the same since.

I will admit, just between you and me, that I was skeptical back in 2011. I mean, I had the Windows phone, a Surface RT and I had only recently stopped jamming out to Michael Bolton on my Zune music player. So, yes, I was skeptical of this streamlined OS on a device with such a comparatively low price point.

But then, I got my hands on one. It booted (do people still say that?) so fast! It was extremely intuitive. And because Citrix Workspace was available on Day 1, I simply added it from the Chrome Web Store, logged in through Citrix Networking (Gateway) using my e-mail address. And bada bing, bada boom! I had access to all my corporate Windows and SaaS apps, my virtual desktops (Windows and now Linux), and my secure files and data.

And when I’m in my “zone” and focused on working, I really don’t notice what type of device I’m on. The user experience is beyond compare. So, skeptical no more, my friend.

And I don’t think I’m the only one because Chrome OS device shipments went from something like 14.7 million in 2019  to 30.7 million in 2020.

Anyway, enough about me. Let’s talk about the conversation I recently had on “Between The Clouds” with Naveen Viswanatha, Product Manager, Chrome OS, Google. In this show, Naveen and I talk about the explosive growth of Chrome OS, the latest integrations with Citrix, and some of our favorite customer stories, plus our mutual love of good comics.

And like any good show I want to leave you with a cliff hanger. On the next episode of “Between The Clouds” we will unveil a new certification around Google and Citrix. Eeeeeee!
