Citrix Workspace, including Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops service, is now available worldwide with support for Azure Virtual Desktop (formerly Windows Virtual Desktop). With today’s announcement of worldwide general availability of Azure Virtual Desktop from Microsoft, all Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops service customers have new flexibility in deploying hybrid-cloud workloads in Azure and on premises.
Citrix customers have been eagerly awaiting this new Microsoft offering, which brings new flexibility to cloud deployments. IT can take advantage of the new Windows 10 Enterprise multi-session capabilities, available only on Azure, to provide a scalable, full-fidelity experience. Additionally, customers with Windows 7 workloads remaining on-prem can now migrate to Azure with Azure Virtual Desktop and receive free extended security updates for up to three years.

The Citrix 1909 VDA is ready for all the capabilities of Azure Virtual Desktop, including Windows 10 multi-session images deployed on Azure virtual machines, providing all the benefits of Citrix HDX technologies to users. Citrix administrators can manage Azure-hosted virtual machines running Windows 10 multi-session and Windows 7, side-by-side with existing on-prem or cloud infrastructure, with a modern hybrid-cloud approach to IT.
