Since the announcement of the of the Citrix Ready workspace hub (formerly known as the HDX Ready Pi) last month, we’ve seen a tremendous amount of interest from both existing and future Citrix customers. This year at Mobile World Congress, I had to pleasure of speaking to a few customers who had a chance to see the workspace hub live in action, and they all had the same reaction: How do I get one right now!?!

The Citrix Ready workspace hub is already available through our Citrix Ready partners ViewSonic and NComputing. And today, I’m glad to announce that the advanced features such as Citrix Casting and Skye for Business RTME are now available as a technical preview.

What is Citrix Casting?

What is Citrix Casting? Citrix Casting is a capability that makes it possible for users to securely and seamlessly move their virtual app and desktop sessions from a mobile device to a Citrix Ready workspace hub that’s connected to a display. Citrix Casting was, by far, the feature that most impressed attendees at Mobile World Congress when I showed them what the Citrix Ready workspace hub was all about.

Citrix Casting features:

Session Roaming — This aspect of Citrix Casting enables a mobile phone to authenticate to a Citrix Ready workspace hub either by using the beacon inside the workspace hub to detect the proximity of the user and securely initiate the log or via a QR code.

Screen Casting — This feature allows users to interact with their phones and cast any desktop/app session to any workspace hub around them. Users share their sessions to a secure device that has a keyboard, mouse, printer, speakerphone, or other device attached to it. This creates a new way of working in which users no longer are tied down to an office.

Managed by XenMobile

The beauty of Citrix Ready workspace hub is the fact that it’s such a small low-cost device that helps companies repurpose funds that had been set aside for costly PCs to other areas of the business. However, the solution wouldn’t be complete without a way for your IT admins to manage the devices.

That’s where XenMobile Service comes to save the day. Because XenMobile Service is a cloud-based solution that requires minimal to no infrastructure, it gives admins the ability to manage the devices without a prolonged deployment. With XenMobile Unified Endpoint Management, one platform can manage an entire device program including iOS, Android, macOS, Win10, workspace hub and other device types.

But wait, there’s more!

The Citrix Ready workspace hub is packed with many other features, which you can learn more about from our initial announcement blog post.

Download the Citrix Ready workspace hub tech preview through our Citrix Ready partners, NComputing or ViewSonic. You can also work with your local trusted reseller or Citrix representative. We’ve also got great resources to get you started, like the Citrix Ready workspace hub installation guide.
