Every year, nominees for the Citrix Innovation Award exemplify how Citrix partners across the globe are designing, building and thinking outside the digital transformation box.

This year, our industry pioneers Atea Denmark, Envision IT and Fujitsu New Zealand have implemented first-of-their-kind solutions that make business as usual faster, simpler, more secure—and the world we live in a better place.

In case you missed it, be sure and watch their real-world stories of transformation through the cloud.

And then, there was one.

Our finalists inspired votes (and minds) all over the world, and left our independent committee of IT experts with a very difficult task of selecting a winner.  During the Citrix Summit Closing Keynote in Anaheim, CA, it was our distinct honor to announce Fujitsu New Zealand as the winner of our 2017 Innovation Award for Partners.

As one of the largest IT companies in the Australian and New Zealand marketplace, Fujitsu consults, designs and builds solutions that constantly pursue innovation – on a groundbreaking scale.

How they did it

Fujitsu’s GoDaaS is a cloud-based Desktop-as-a-Service solution for the New Zealand government, built on one of the most sophisticated multi-tenanted Citrix architectures in the world. It frees government employees to work where and how they need to—while maintaining a seamless, secure and flexible experience.

This past fall, when New Zealand was struck with a 7.8 magnitude earthquake, GoDaaS empowered one government agency to get its secure digital workplace back online within four days, enabling them to meet critical deadlines. Take a moment to watch their incredible story.

In addition to supporting disaster recovery efforts in extreme conditions, GoDaaS also slashed desktop costs and helped streamline everything from judicial case resolution to building permit approvals to census surveys, returning vital funding back to the community. Local agencies now have one of the lowest IT costs per employee, with one of the most advanced infrastructures available.

This 100% Citrix-based fully integrated workplace is rapidly growing, currently boasting 3,420 users across four New Zealand Government agencies. Fujitsu plans to take that usage to more than 25,000 New Zealand government employees in the next 12 months, solidifying their reputation as the supplier of choice for leading corporate and government organizations.

Meet our other outstanding finalists

Atea of Denmark

IT specialist Atea of Denmark has forged its own unique path for technology transformation across the public and private sectors in Denmark, from data center design to complete, flexible and user-friendly IT infrastructure. Atea prides itself on developing cutting edge solutions that the next generation can be proud of.

So when regional aircraft leasing giant Nordic Aviation Capital wanted to develop an IT solution that didn’t even exist, Atea was ready to power yes.

Nordic Aviation Capital is now the first in the world to use virtual Citrix XenApp servers in Microsoft Azure in different global datacenters, enabling users across the world to access applications that are closest to them geographically. This solution not only delegates the burden of physical operation and maintenance to Microsoft, but also more evenly distributing data and workloads across international offices.

The result: faster access to more data in the cloud, more efficiency for employees and a better experience for end users—no matter where in the world they work.

“We are a team with strong ideas who want to offer our colleagues the latest,” explains Morten Thomsen, IT Manager at Nordic Aviation Capital in London.

Through Atea, Citrix empowers Nordic Aviation Capital to be digital frontrunners in the industry.  Watch Atea and Nordic in action and go behind the scenes with our camera crew on premises in Denmark.

Envision IT

Headquartered in Madison, WI, Envision IT helps companies adopt and integrate technology into their business, while fostering conscious capitalism as a guiding principle. Envision prioritizes quality of life for their employees—and their clients’ employees as well. Citrix cloud technology is a natural extension of that vision.

This year, Envision helped transform Exact Sciences—a diagnostic company that developed Cologuard, an early detection colorectal cancer screening test. Using Citrix Workspace Suite and NetScaler housed in the cloud, Envision structured a solution that delivered secure, efficient and easy-to-use technologies to Exact Science’s international workforce.

Sales staff were empowered to work from home, increasing productivity and eliminating the need to invest in brick and mortar. Contact Centers could remotely access centrally-stored sensitive data—with no fear of security breaches. Most importantly, Exact Sciences saw faster and more accurate processing of lab samples which allowed for the rapid globalization of Cologard—saving countless lives.

Watch their story here.

“This is a story that goes beyond bits and bytes to one of technology transforming lives,” said Nancy Pautsch, president of Envision IT. “Working with Exact Sciences reinforced our belief in the immense potential of for-profit companies to do good and, in turn, be recognized by their local communities and ultimately have the world respond to their good work too.”
