At Build 23: AWCI’s Convention + Expo in Las Vegas, Adam Shoemaker, ClarkDietrich corporate sustainability manager, an SFIA member, caught up with Jill Bloom, Walls & Ceilings group publisher, for an interview on the industry podcast, “If Walls Could Talk.”
In the interview, Shoemaker mentioned that ClarkDietrich is continuing its commitment to sustainability with the launch of SustainabilityPRO.

Sustainability Tool ‘Makes Life a lot Easier.”
According to research from the American Institute of Architects, 80 percent of architects want to specify more sustainable materials, but only 1 in 3 feels they are meeting that goal. By launching SustainabilityPRO, ClarkDietrich is addressing these challenges by making transparency documentation available in just a few clicks.
“SustainabilityPro streamlines finding sustainable documentation for green bundling products,” says Shoemaker in the podcast. “Everything specifically related to the product is there, it is also plant specific.”
The easy-to-use digital tool allows users to quickly access product specific information and certifications needed to calculate contributions to LEED®, LBC, WELL and many other green building rating systems.
“Previously, we had a support page that had 50 documents on it,” Shoemaker says. “Our customers would go there and look for these documents, we have thousands of products, the process could take a full day.”
“Now, with a click of the button, you can do it yourself in a minute,” Shoemaker says. “[Customers] can quickly filter the information needed to make the most sustainable choices – it is going to make everyone’s life a lot easier.”
Corporate Sustainability Report
Coinciding with the launch of SustainabilityPRO, ClarkDietrich published its first-ever Corporate Sustainability Report, reinforcing the company’s commitment to increase product transparency.
“ClarkDietrich has practiced sustainability principles for many years, but it has been fragmented and not clearly organized,” Shoemaker says. “Publishing this first Corporate Sustainability Report was a huge step in setting up the structure and focus of our sustainability program moving into the future.”
Among other details, the report includes information on benchmarks related to reporting practices and will be published annually going forward.
