Penalty Units amount increase

Penalty units under Commonwealth laws increased on 1 July 2020 from $210 each to $222 each as notified in the Notice of Indexation of the Penalty Unit Amount.

The new penalty unit value will only apply to offences committed on or after 1 July 2020.

Under the Crimes Act 1914 (Cth) there is an automatic CPI adjustment of the penalty unit amount every three years.
