Thank you for joining us. We had a fantastic conversation, in spite of the technical difficulties at the start (so sorry for that!) My big takeaway from this conversation with Devi Thomas was that for adopting these tools responsibly, a cultural mind-shift must happen, from relying on creating something new, to co-creating with Generative AI tools, like Copilot - where the human is the pilot. For example, when creating written content, we become the editor while the Copilot creates the first draft. As Devi said, "We are used to going from zero to 80% and now we must shift to 80-100%." We can go slowly, using ethical considerations as a guide, especially in thinking about your use-case and ongoing learning and improvement. Keeping in mind, the six ethical principles that Devi mentioned: Accountability, Inclusiveness, Reliability & Safety, Fairness, Transparency, and Privacy & Security. Devi brought up an excellent point that we need to remember, "We are all learning together". We must keep a growth-mindset and learning - which holds the promise of moving the nonprofit work experience from time-scarcity to time-abundance, to focus on mission-critical tasks. Really super interesting. FAR more captivating than the ChatGPT 4 answer to "What will Beth Kanter and Devi Thomas discuss regarding AI for nonprofits?"
