Dairy markets mixed, CWT assists in cheese and powder sales

A mixed day for the dairy markets on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange on Tuesday.  Cash cheese barrels and nonfat dry milk were steady, blocks gained 2.25 cents and butter lost a penny.  Class III futures were 12 cents higher for July, a penny higher for August and a few cents lower for the rest of the 2015 contract.

 

Cooperatives Working Together (CWT) has accepted 28 requests for export assistance from Dairy Farmers of America, Michigan Milk Producers Association, and Northwest Dairy Association (Darigold) who have contracts to sell 1.171 million pounds of Cheddar, Gouda and Monterey Jack cheese, and 7.275 million pounds of whole milk powder to customers in Asia, Central America, the Middle East, North Africa and South America. The product has been contracted for delivery in the period from July through December 2015.

Year-to-date, CWT has assisted member cooperatives who have contracts to sell 39.572 million pounds of cheese, 30.395 million pounds of butter and 29.374 million pounds of whole milk powder to thirty one countries on five continents.
