The USDA reports the national corn crop condition rating improved slightly over the past week, while soybeans held steady.

Many parts of the Midwest experienced more much wetter than normal weather, limiting soybean planting, hampering row crop development, and slowing winter wheat harvest activity, but some areas did get at least a slight break from rain over the past week.

As of Sunday, 12% of corn is silking, compared to 4% a week ago and the five year average of 18%. 69% of corn is in good to excellent condition, up 1% on the week.

96% of soybeans have been planted and 93% have emerged, both of those are 4% slower than normal. 21% of soybeans are blooming, matching the average pace. 63% of soybeans are rated good to excellent, unchanged from last week.

55% of the winter wheat crop is harvested, compared to 59% on average, and 40% of the crop is called good to excellent, down 1% from a week ago. 76% of spring wheat has headed, well ahead of the average pace due to hot, dry weather in the northwestern U.S. Plains. 70% of spring wheat is in good to excellent shape, 2% lower than last week.

56% of U.S. pastures and rangelands are in good to excellent condition, up 1% from a week ago and steady with a year ago.
