1. Code of Conduct by Brad Thor (Atria, fiction, on sale July 7)

What it's about: Four seconds of a leaked video kicks off this espionage thriller starring Thor's recurring character, counterterrorism operative Scot Harvath.

The buzz: Thor's Hidden Order (a Harvath title) landed at No. 1 on USA TODAY's Best-Selling Books list in 2013.

2. Diane von Furstenberg: A Life Unwrapped by Gioia Diliberto (Dey St., non-fiction, on sale July 7)

What it's about: A biography of the fashion designer who brought us the famous wrap dress.

The buzz: Arrives as the E! network's reality series House of DVF gets set to return for a second season on Aug. 31.

3. Dexter Is Dead by Jeff Lindsay (Doubleday, fiction, on sale July 7)

What it's about: Blood spatter analyst/serial killer Dexter Morgan is arrested for a murder he did not commit.

The buzz: The final book in the series which inspired the Showtime cult favorite Dexter (R.I.P., 2006-2013) starring Michael C. Hall.

4. The Land of Stories: Beyond the Kingdoms by Chris Colfer (Little, Brown, fiction, on sale July 7)

What it's about: With help from the likes of Goldilocks, Red Riding Hood and Mother Goose, Alex and Conner Bailey pursue the "Masked Man."

The buzz: This is the fourth book in a best-selling series for kids by the Glee alum.

5. Maybe in Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Reid (Washington Square Press, fiction, on sale July 7)

What it's about: Novel sketches out two parallel-universe stories when Hannah Martin, 29, decides between going home with her roommate or leaving a bar with her old college boyfriend.

The buzz: Reid's first book, Forever, Interrupted, has been optioned for the movies with Dakota Johnson (Fifty Shades of Grey) attached to star.
