Three months after Dentons announced plans to merge with McKenna Long & Aldridge—and nearly two years after the pair’s fitful courtship began—the two firms formally combined on Wednesday into a 3,000-lawyer giant.

The addition of McKenna Long’s roughly 370 lawyers brings Dentons’ U.S. head count to 1,100, increases the number of U.S. offices from 17 to 21, boosts the firm’s government affairs practice to the third-largest nationally, and expands its corporate practice, among others. It also brings changes to top management: Jeff Haidet, McKenna Long’s chair, has been named co-U.S. CEO alongside Dentons’ current CEO, Peter Wolfson. Mark Flanagan, former McKenna Long managing partner, is now U.S. integration partner responsible for U.S. revenue growth, integration and pricing.
