The USDA Planted Acreage Report released on Tuesday shows Wisconsin has 4.1 million acres of corn planted this year compared to 4 million last year.  The Badger State has a record 1.9 million acres of soybeans planted this year up 100,000 from a year ago.

The report says 92 percent of the corn and 93 percent of the soybeans planted in Wisconsin are biotech varieties.  70 percent of the corn has stacked traits, 10 percent is insect-resistant only and 8 percent is only herbicide resistant. All of the biotech soybeans are herbicide resistant.

There are 1.65 million acres of hay in Wisconsin this year with 1.3 million of that alfalfa, 50,000 more acres of alfalfa than last year.

Potato acreage is up 2,000 to 66,000 this year.  Dry edible bean acreage is the same as last year; 7,900.
