NRCS launches Client Gateway

CLientGateway

The Natural Resources Conservation Service launched its new web application Thursday.  NRCS Chief Jason Weller says the Conservation Client Gateway will allow farmers to access all of their conservation information online.

He says this is a way for farmers to work with NRCS without having to take time to go into the office.  “They can look at maps, bring up their operation, contracts and look at their conservation plans,” he says.  “They can even apply for loans and sign documents and ask for help or technical questions.  They can do all that work now from their offices at home, laptops in their kitchens, or even the back of their truck.”

High-speed internet access can be a challenge in parts of Rural America and Weller tells Brownfield NRCS has accounted for that.  “We’ve designed the website so it is going to be accessible and usable for folks that don’t have broadband or high-speed connectivity,” he says.  “It’s going to be low-graphic intensive, but still responsive and usable for all users.  But it is also designed to be usable on portable devices.”

While the new website allows farmers a more convenient way of working with NRCS, he says the website not replace current service centers.
