Missouri grower “way behind”

Programs ICONMissouri grower Tom Waters farms just east of Kansas City, near Orrick, and tells Brownfield he can’t seem to catch a break with this on-again, off-again, rainy weather.

“In our area, we’re way behind. I’ve just got a few beans planted and we’ve got a long way to go before we’re finished planting. About the time it dries up and we think we’re gonna do something, it rains again.”

He says there was some welcome sunshine and warmer weather during this past weekend which helped his corn…but overall, it’s struggling…

“The cool temperatures are slowing it’s growth, it seems like. A lot of mornings it’s got that yellow tint to it.”

Waters says he just needs drier and warmer weather moving forward. There’s a chance for rain every day this week in the forecast.
