Fees

You’ll pay a fee which varies depending on your rent.  But some landlords and HOAs will pay the fee.

I checked our old apartment.  The fee to use RentPayment.com is ~$25.

You’ll Pay a Fee to Use RentPayment.com

Although there’s a fee to use RentPayment.com and similar services like RadPad, it could be worth it if you have to meet minimum spending on new cards.

And if you earn cash back on all purchases like the Barclaycard Arrival Plus card, you might earn more back than the cost of the fee.

For example, a $1,500 rent payment + $25 fee earns you 3,050 Arrival miles.  (Because the Arrival Plus earn 2X miles on all purchases.)  You can redeem for those 3,050 Arrival Miles for ~$31 in travel expenses.

So you’re making a ~$6 profit (~$31 back against travel – $25 fee) and helping establish a good relationship with Barclays.  Because generally, Barclays wants you to use your cards before approving you for new ones.

Bottom Line

You can earn miles and points paying rent and HOA fees with RentPayment.com.

But your landlord and property manager has to join RentPayment.com before you can use the service.

And you’ll pay a fee, but some landlords and HOAs will pay the fee for you!

It might be cheaper for you to use RentPayment.com instead of services such as RadPad but unless you have a lot of minimum spending, the fees might not be worth it.

Allthough, if you earn cash back on all purchases from cards like the Barclaycard Arrival Plus, and have a high enough rent, you might be able to offset the fee.

And using your cards (and paying your bills on-time) improves your relationship with the bank, increasing your chance of getting approved for more cards in the future.

Have you used RentPayment.com?  What’s been your experience?
