1. Beach Town by Mary Kay Andrews (St. Martin's Press, fiction, on sale May 19)

Struggling movie location scout Greer Hennessy thinks she's found an ideal spot for a big movie on the Florida Gulf Coast.

The buzz: Andrews takes the term "beach read" seriously; her previous best-selling seasonal titles include Summer Rental.

2. After the Dance: My Life With Marvin Gaye by Jan Gaye (Amistad, non-fiction, on sale May 19)

What it's about: Jan Gaye opens up about her troubled relationship with soul superstar Marvin Gaye, who died in 1984.

The buzz: "Compulsively readable," says Kirkus Reviews.

3. I, Ripper by Stephen Hunter (Simon & Schuster, fiction, on sale May 19)

What it's about: Psychological thriller goes inside the mind of Jack the Ripper, who infamously murdered five prostitutes in London in 1888.

The buzz: Hunter's novel about the JFK assassination, The Third Bullet, hit No. 16 on USA TODAY's Best-Selling Books list in 2013.

4. Cupcakes and Cashmere at Home by Emily Schuman (Abrams, non-fiction, on sale May 19)

What it's about: The popular lifestyle blogger (Cupcakes and Cashmere) offers tips on interior design.

The buzz: Follow-up to her 2012 entertaining book, Cupcakes and Cashmere.

5. Off the Page by Jodi Picoult and Samantha van Leer (Delacorte, fiction, on sale May 19)

What it's about: Young-adult novel continues the adventures of Delilah and Oliver, a fairy-tale prince who comes to life, begun in Between the Lines.

The buzz: Picoult is the author of best sellers like Leaving Time and My Sister's Keeper; van Leer is her daughter.
