News & Politics

The release of Peter Schweizer's book Clinton Cash earlier this month has many on the right - and even some of the left - outraged over what appears to be the Clintons' conflicts of interests with foreign donors. Missing from this conversation, however, is the glaring hypocrisy from those on the right that wealthy billionaires unduly influencing Presidential elections is something they, themselves, have been staunchly defending for decades.

If one accepts the premise that foreign donors have a corrosive effect on democracy at home, why would it not logically follow that the Sheldon Adelsons and Koch brothers of the world wouldn't be just as corrupting?

As Stewart points out: for all the handwringing and outrage over Clinton Cash - some more than justified - this double standard hasn't been adequately accounted for.
