5% corn planted in South Dakota

Programs ICONCorn planting in South Dakota progressed a little. As of Sunday, it was five percent complete, ahead of last year and the five-year average. Temperatures throughout the state were above normal last week and there was only light rainfall. Topsoil and subsoil remain mostly short to very short.

South Dakota winter wheat condition is about one-fourth poor – nearly half “fair” and about one-fourth “good.”

Oat planting is well ahead of last year and the average at 64 percent complete.  Barley planted is also ahead at 42 percent. And, spring wheat planting is very much ahead at 73-percent complete.
