1. God Help the Child by Toni Morrison (Knopf, fiction, on sale April 21)

What it's about: A black female executive is haunted by sexual abuse accusations she made against a teacher years earlier.

The buzz: "Emotionally wrenching ... this haunting novel displays a profound understanding of American culture," says Publishers Weekly.

2. A Girl and Her Greens: Hearty Meals from the Garden by April Bloomfield (Ecco, non-fiction, on sale April 21)

What it's about: The chef/co-owner of New York hot spot The Spotted Pig and author of A Girl and Her Pig turns her talents to vegetables.

The buzz: Seasonal recipes like Ramps with Fried Eggs and Crushed Spring Peas with Mint should help foodies get over the winter blues.

3. Missoula: Rape and the Justice System in a College Town by Jon Krakauer (Doubleday, non-fiction, on sale April 21)

What it's about: The author of the best sellers Into Thin Air and Into the Wild investigates sexual assaults at the University of Montana.

The buzz: The well-respected Krakauer takes on a controversial topic much in the news.

4. Memory Man by David Baldacci (Grand Central, fiction, on sale April 21)

What it's about: After a head injury sustained in the NFL, cop Amos Decker can never forget anything – including the horrific details of finding his family murdered; new series by the best-selling author.

The buzz: "Readers will want to see Decker back on the printed page again and again," says Kirkus Reviews.

5. Pleasantville by Attica Locke (Harper, fiction, on sale April 21)

What it's about: Attorney Jay Porter (Black Water Rising) returns in this murder-mystery set amid Houston's mayoral election.

The buzz: When she's not writing mysteries, Locke is busy as a writer/co-producer on Fox's smash hit Empire.
