Wet fields and the forecast for more rain

For Jeff Wuebker who farms in Darke County, Western Ohio, spring planting remains on hold.

“Last week we had two and half inches of rain right in through here, now you go a little farther north and they had almost an inch less,” Wuebker said. “We’re pretty wet, I haven’t really thought about it, I don’t have anything ready, so I’m busy doing other stuff.”

When Brownfield caught up with Wuebker on Friday, April 17, he was hauling hay, earlier in the week he was delivering pigs to Logan County where he did see some Amish in the field.

“Looked like they were seeding alfalfa into something, pulling a drill with horses, I saw another group with some horses and a disk,” said the Darke County Ohio farmer.

Other than some manure being spread, Wuebker says it’s pretty quiet.
