The Lions were given a grade of B-minus for their offseason moves by ESPN.

The Lions traded for defensive tackle Haloti Ngata and signed defensive end Tyrunn Walker. Their most significant losses were defensive tackles Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley.

"They lost a top-five defensive player and replaced him with a borderline Pro Bowler, and they did not really improve anywhere else," ESPN's Matt Williamson said.

ESPN's Field Yates: "The Suh thing is a tough pill to swallow, but to turn a bad situation into Haloti Ngata at a good price is a good fallback. Keeping Teryl Austin, who did a very good job last season and had a history with Ngata in Baltimore, might have been one of the most important things they did."
