Staying Stylish During Lockdown

Fashion has become something of an afterthought thanks to lockdown. There certainly seems little point thinking about what we’re wearing right now. Instead, you’ve likely taken up residence in your favorite jammies, or resorted to the same clothes day in, day out; and, why shouldn’t you?

We’ve all got enough going on mentally without adding style dilemmas to the mix. The trouble is that, as you likely already know, what we wear can have a significant impact on how we feel. Thus, your jogging bottom habit may well be contributing to that stuffy, stale feeling that you can’t shake.

You could argue, then, that staying in control of style could help you through the lockdown struggle. By this, we obviously don’t mean catwalk-esque pieces and high heels. Rather, there are some more appropriate ways to style it right at the moment, and we’re going to look at them here.

Styles of the season

2020s spring trends are history, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t still a few seasonal trends. For instance, according to Vogue, #homecouture is set to become a thing, with everything from pillows to saucepans. If you don’t quite fancy going down that route, there are also subtle Rona-led trends, like the coronavirus t shirt collection available from Tees 2 Ur Door. Some designers are even claiming that, as we ditch the footwear, fashion socks are making their long-awaited comeback.

Making space for stylish comfort

Not all comfortable clothes are stylish. As mentioned, living in your pyjamas probably isn’t your best option. But, that doesn’t mean you can’t still look good and feel comfortable. You simply need to think about the trendy alternatives. Something like a maxi dress or long skirt could work wonderfully, especially as the warmer weather approaches. Or, you might want to opt for fashion leggings that you can comfortably slip into. Pair these with some flats that are so comfortable they feel like slippers, and you’ll surely be onto a winner.

Any excuse to get dressed up

It’s also well worth noting that you should make some effort to get dressed up during this extended period. Otherwise, your most stylish items will likely have to sit the season out, and no one wants that. Luckily, lockdown has taught us about the true value of taking our time over what to wear for the smallest of events. While you might have once waited for a big party to crack out your posh dresses, this season means getting glammed up for everything from your shopping trip to that weekly Zoom call with the fam. It may seem strange, but trust us when we say that this is the ideal way to make yourself look and feel amazing during lockdown.

Style has undoubtedly changed this season, and, don’t get us wrong; we understand the temptation to slip into bad habits. But, given that we have so little control elsewhere right now, you might just find that perfecting your wardrobe boosts your lockdown spirits like you’d never believe.
