Swimsuit Coverups Under $50

When swimsuit seasons arrives, I am all about the coverup.

For obvious reasons, a coverup is a nice way to, well, cover up if you don’t feel like prancing across the pool deck in your swimsuit every time you need to check on a wayward child. But a coverup is also a fun accessory to add to your summer wardrobe, and who doesn’t enjoy shopping for fun accessories?

Whether you like shopping or not, I’ve done the hard work for you, and I came up with swimsuit coverups for your perusal. All of my suggestions are under $50 because while I’m happy to splurge on a great pair of shoes and premium denim, a swimsuit coverup doesn’t need to be an investment piece. I prefer to get something trendy and cute that I don’t mind replacing next summer.

First I’ll share some of my favorite styles. Then I’ll list a bunch of options for your shopping inspiration! Links are provided through my affiliate partners.

2019 Swimsuit Coverup Trends

A caftan is my favorite style. If you like to show off your bikini figure, go for a sheer version. If you prefer to keep certain things hidden, you can find cute ones that are as modest as a nice dress. These are also great for taking you from the pool to the cafe when at a resort or swimclub.

The same is true for a cute dress like this one. I like that you can throw it on and go grab dinner without having to change clothes.

A maxi dress works well as a bathing suit coverup. Once again, you can go right from poolside to bar side without having to make a whole wardrobe change.

A pareo is nice if you just want something small to wrap around your hips to get you to and from the car. It’s also a cute fashion statement that offers a bit of modesty when you’re standing around in the baby pool hovering over a bobbing toddler.

And board shorts are great for the active woman who wants a little bit of coverage back there.

So with that, here’s a whole slew of options for you to consider. Enjoy!

  1. Coverups are a must for me. I love the blue one because it looks like a dress and the one that looks like a sarong is beautiful. Thanks for hosting and have a great weekend!

  2. I’m obsessed with Coolibar and Lands End cover ups this year. Coolibar is sun protective which is an extra bonus. This week’s Fashion Friday post I’m wearing one of their cover ups that can be worn as a dress or tunic. Love, love, love!!

  3. I actually need a couple of swimsuit cover-ups so I found this post very useful. Love the royal blue and teal ones you listed first. Plus those are 2 of my favorite colors. Great choices all in all.

My pleasure linking up again, Jo-Lynne. =)

  4. Cute coverup options! I’m loving the maxi dress and also the blue dress that you can wear from the pool to dinner!

  5. Super cute options. I was happy to see Old Navy offering several caftan style coverups this season. I’ll spend decent money on a swimsuit, but just can’t stand to spend $100 on a coverup!

  6. Great article ! Leaving for the beach next month! I always tend to think about coverups only at the last minute !

  7. Love these options….all very wearable and reasonably priced (which is so important for us moms!). I can’t believe swimsuit season is right around the corner!

  8. I suspect I am in the minority since I haven’t worn a swimsuit in probably five years and have no plans of being in one this year. There are a lot of cute and inexpensive options for those that need a coverup. Reading about the college searches with your son remind me of the search our granddaughter and her parents went through. As a junior she found a college she really liked. Once her senior year of high school approached, they visited other colleges, large and small, private and public, all in-state. She ended up selecting a smal private college in the Georgia mountains, which is where she starts in August. Good luck!

    1. That’s interesting. I also wonder if he’ll want to visit more next fall. We shall see. For now, I think we’re done. I would be fine with him picking any one of the 3 we’ve looked at, but I do have a favorite. 🙂
