Fiskars Project Orange Thumb Community Garden Grant Recipients Announced

Fiskars Project Orange Thumb

Fiskars Project Orange Thumb awards grants to 30 community gardens in the US and Canada. At the beginning of this year I accepted a position with Project Orange Thumb® as a member of the editorial board to help select the winning applicants and bring attention to the project.

Applications were due at the end of January, and in February, myself and the other board members individually read through 50 grant application finalists and selected the 30 community gardens that would each receive $3,500 in cash and tools this year.

Grant recipients have been announced and you can see the final selection over here as well as read a brief statement about each organization and the work they are doing within their communities.

Congratulations to all of the gardens who received the grant in 2015! I look forward to seeing how you grow as we move into the gardening season.

Disclosure: As mentioned above, I am on the Project Orange Thumb® editorial board for 2015, which is a paid position.

  1. Gardening is on its way to being “cool”.

But we knew all along …..

  2. Wow! Terrific program by Fiskars. We have a community garden here at the library in Bayfield, CO; I’ll let them know about this. Thank you for your great contribution to this wonderful project. The organizations that were chosen are all inspiring. Grow Girl!!
