Cattle inventory numbers out Friday

USDA’s cattle inventory report Friday may not show a rapid pace of herd expansion, but it should show signs of an end to contraction.

That’s at least partially due to more favorable pasture conditions and cheaper feed costs.

According to Dow Jones Newswires, all cattle and calves on January 1 are expected to be down fractionally from last year, while beef replacement heifers are expected to be up slightly from a year ago.

The report is out Friday at 3 PM Eastern/2 PM Central.
