Good week for corn, soybean inspections

USDA reports corn and soybean export inspections remain ahead of what’s needed weekly to meet USDA projections for the 2014/15 marketing year, but wheat was again short of its mark.

Wheat inspections for the week ending January 22 were 263,035 tons, down 51,237 from the week ending January 15 and 34,588 lower than the week ending January 23, 2014. For the 2014/15 marketing year to date, wheat inspections are 14,674,417 tons, compared to 21,747,021 in 2013/14.

Corn was reported at 886,825 tons, up 139,191 from the previous week and 150,069 higher than this time last year. So far this marketing year, corn inspections are 14,283,140 tons, compared to 14,049,306 a year ago.

Soybeans were pegged at 1,522,036 tons, 205 more than the prior week, but 490,382 less than last year. At this point in the marketing year, soybean inspections are 35,715,085 tons, compared to 30,343,370 a year ago.

Sorghum inspections totaled 301,752 tons. That’s an increase of 67,082 tons on the week and 241,296 on the year. 2014/15 sorghum inspections are 3,717,534 tons, compared to 1,205,075 in 2013/14.
