New 2015 Releases from the Royal Australian Mint

The Royal Australian Mint has recently started accepting orders for a wide array of new releases. The new products cover themes including Australian bravery, the 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli Landing, and the 50th Anniversary of the Royal Australian Mint. The latest coins are available from the Australian Road Signs and Saltwater Crocodiles series.

All of the coins and sets can be found in the new releases section of the Royal Australian Mint website. Some of the most recently added products are available by pre-order with shipping commencing at a later date.

A gold plated 1 oz frosted uncirculated silver coin is issued for Australian Bravery. The coin is issued on the 40th anniversary of the introduction of the Australian Honors System on February 14, 1975. The coin includes the names of the recipients of the Cross of Valour and the George Cross. The coin carries a mintage of 5,000 pieces.

The latest release within the ANZAC Centenary Coin Program remembers the Australian and New Zealand troops who came ashore on Gallipoli as part of the British effort to seize control of the Turkish peninsula and the Dardanelles. The design features soldiers in the foreground with the background framed in the shape of a cross.

The design is used for an aluminum bronze circulating coin, an 11.66 gram silver proof coin with a mintage of 12,500, and a 1/10 oz gold proof coin with a mintage of 2,500 pieces.

A 1 oz silver proof coin is also issued to mark the 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli Landing. The Lone Pine was a solitary tree on the Gallipoli Peninsula which marked the site of the Battle of Lone Pine. After the tree was obliterated during the battle, a solitary pine was planted at the Lone Pine Cemetery on the Gallipoli peninsula to symbolize the original tree. It is this tree which is depicted on the reverse of the coin.

The silver proof coin is limited to a mintage of 10,000 pieces. The Royal Australian Mint has also offered a 4-coin packaged set containing this Australian coin along with others from the United Kingdom, New Zealand, and Turkey, which also mark the 100th Anniversary of Gallipoli.

A 1/10 oz gold proof coin is also available limited to a mintage of 1,500 pieces.

The third and final release within the Australian Road Sign Series features the Emu. Previous releases within the series have featured the kangaroo and koala.

A 1 oz frosted uncirculated silver coin is available with a mintage of 40,000 pieces. This is joined by a 5 oz silver  and 1 oz gold version with with mintages of 5,000 pieces each. Larger 1 kg silver, 5 oz gold, and 1 kg gold versions are also available on a made to order basis.

The sixth coin within the Australian Saltwater Crocodiles series features Argo Junior. The design features Argo Junior lying eagerly in wait on a creek bed. The 1 oz silver proof coin has an unusually low mintage of just 1,500 pieces.

50th anniversary royal australian mint coin

This year the Royal Australian Mint celebrates their 50th anniversary. Late last year, special 50 cent coin was revealed with a honeycomb design intended to represent the expertise and ingenuity of the employees of the mint who make world renowned coins. A colored uncirculated version of the coin is now available limited to a mintage of 30,000 pieces. Additionally, a colored version with a special World Money Fair overprint is available and limited to a mintage of 5,000.

Distinctly Australian Colored Coin

Last is the 2015 $5 Colored Frosted Uncirculated Distinctly Australian Coin. The design features a collection of familiar Australian features and icons including ‘Banjo’ Paterson, Sir Douglas Mawson, Ned Kelly, Sir Charles Kingsford Smith, Nancy Bird-Walton, a gold miner and Arnott’s Biscuits.

The aluminum bronze coin has a diameter of 38.74 mm, weight of 20 grams, and mintage of 20,000 pieces.

    Yea, I picked up that Florida Alligator from last year, mintage 1,500 NGC PF70 UC goes perfect with my Florida Panther in same grade but with only 1,000. COA was 0914 so I assume they are almost gone, could be wrong. I think NGC should start putting the COA # that corcorresponds to the coin on low mintage issues to prevent fraud further…
