The vision is to make Indiana the center of agricultural innovation and investment.  During the Inaugural Governor’s Conference on Agriculture, Governor Mike Pence told attendees the infrastructure to make that happen is already in place.  “We really are determined, through our Economic Development efforts and our Department of Agriculture efforts to build on that,” he says.  “And really keep Indiana emerging as really a center for agricultural innovation going forward.”

Jason Clay with the World Wildlife Fund says nothing has a bigger impact on the planet than food production.  And with population expected to reach 9 billion people by 2050, agriculture is going to be at the center of that solution.  “We really have to focus,” he says.  “And we’re going to do it by focusing on productivity.  By focusing on efficiency – how can we use inputs more efficiently and how can we process more efficiently. We’re going ot achieve that amount of food by reducing waste and also I think by changing the way we eat.”
