Southeast Missouri tops in soybean contest

Programs ICONSoutheast Missouri growers swept the Missouri Soybean Association’s yield contest this year for first place in each of three categories.

Their yields were upwards of 90 bushels per acre.

John Engram of Scott County got more than 99 bushels an acre on his irrigated cropland in Sikeston.

First place for no-till acres, was won by Charles Hinkebein of Chaffee, in Cape Girardeau County, at more than 92 bushels per acre.

His wife, Glenda Hinkebein, also in Cape Girardeau County, achieved more than 91 bushels to the acre.

Second and third place winners in each of the three categories had upwards of 82 bushels an acre.
