The Cuckoo's Calling and The Silkworm by Robert Galbraith (aka J.K. Rowling) are coming to BBC One.

Harry Potter author Rowling's crime novels are being adapted as a series, with filming expected to start in 2015.

"It's a wonderful coup for BBC Television to be bringing J.K. Rowling's latest books to the screen," BBC Television director Danny Cohen said. "With the rich character of Cormoran Strike at their heart, these dramas will be event television across the world."

The books, which center a military veteran-turned-private investigator, were written by Rowling under a pen name. In addition to the first book, The Cuckoo's Calling, Rowling penned a second novel, The Silkworm, which was published earlier this year.

Bronte Film and TV will produce the series, with Rowling collaborating. Bronte is also producing the three-part series adaptation of Rowling's The Casual Vacancy, which will premiere on BBC One in February.

Rowling joked about the adaptation on Twitter, writing, "My friend @RGalbraith's first novel is going to be a TV drama on @BBCOne. He's very excited, but expressing it with characteristic silence."
