Finding new partners to tell agriculture’s story

During the Illinois Commodity Conference, chairman and CEO of Levick Communications Richard Levick told attendees the agriculture industry is going to have to change the way it communicates controversial topics like Genetically Modified Organisms.

Because, in most cases, he tells Brownfield, people haven’t fully made up their minds about controversial issues.  “Washington crossed the Delaware with a 33 percent approval rating,” he says.  “People were split – one-third supported the British, one-third supported the Revolutionaries, and one-third didn’t care on that significant issue.  It shows that there are a lot of people that can be supportive, but it also shows us to look for unconventional allies and those that haven’t made up their minds.”

And by working with non-traditional partners to tell agriculture’s story, Levick says, the message becomes even more effective.
