Dr LeWinn’s Line Smoothing Complex S8 Triple-Action Day Defence and The Super Hydrator Gets Massive Combo Hits

Dr LeWinn's Line Smoothing Complex S8 Triple-Action Day Defence

It’s no secret on the blog that I’m a big fan of the S8 Super Hydrator from Dr LeWinn’s. It’s a great serum for added hydration oomph to the skin and I don’t know if it’s just me but my other serums that I use on top of the Super Hydrator work better with the combination. The problem is, for some odd reason, the S8 Super Hydrator is exceedingly difficult to find these days. I’ve checked several Priceline and Chemist Warehouse stores and they don’t stock it any more.

In frustration, I reached out to the PR of Dr LeWinn’s to ask if the product has been discontinued and if that’s why I can’t seem to find it in stores. The good news is, it’s not discontinued. The bad news is (well, for me at least) that it’s so popular that stores are finding it difficult to get stock in. GAH!

Anyway, the PR thought I might like to try something similar to the S8 Super Hydrator and that’s the S8 Triple-Action Day Defence. I figured why not; if I can’t find the Super Hydrator, I may need a solid replacement! I’ve been using the Triple-Action Day Defence serum for the past couple of months now and thought it might be a good time for me to share with you what I think of it.

The texture and consistency of the Triple-Action Day Defence is exactly the same as the Super Hydrator. It’s slightly tacky to touch when it’s applied on the skin yet it absorbs very quickly. In fact, other than the millicapsules in the Day Defence serum, the differences between the two serums are almost negligible.

So what are these tiny millicapsule bits in the Day Defence serum? According to Dr LeWinn’s, this serum’s formula contains 3 types of millicapsules that contain nourishing Caviar Extract (gold bits), regenerating Black Currant Oil and super-antioxidant Lipochroman-6 (lilac bits) and moisturising Vitamin E (white bits). When you squeeze the top to dispense the serum, these millicapsule bits come out crushed and mixed in the clear gel. I don’t use this at night as this is meant to be a day treatment. Plus it contains tiny shimmery bits that I don’t like in my evening skincare. However, when it’s applied during the day, I like how the shimmery bits make my skin look. Dammit, it glows and not in the bad way! 🙂

I like this serum, I really do. My skin looks refined and radiant from using the Day Defence serum. For optimum results, it’s meant to be used with the Super Hydrator serum. I’ve tried that out and boy oh boy, talk about super boing-boing glowing skin! You get the benefit of the hyaluronic acid with Super Hydrator and the rest of the good stuff from the Day Defence serum which gives your skin a good amount of combo points.

However, I’ve stopped layering the two serums as I only 1/3 of the Super Hydrator serum left and since I can’t seem to bloody find another bottle of the same serum, I have to make it last as long as possible. I’m currently using the Day Defence during the day and the Super Hydrator in the evenings where I layer it with another serum.

All in all, the Day Defence is quite the marvellous serum and I highly recommend it. If you manage to get the Super Hydrator as well, try layering the Day Defence over the Super Hydrator. It worked very well for me and I hope it does for you too. In fact, I’ve tried a number of Dr LeWinn’s skincare products and they’re impressive, especially the Line Smoothing Complex range and the Reversaderm range.

Dr LeWinn’s Line Smoothing Complex Triple-Action Day Defence retails at AU$69.95 for 30ml and is available at selected pharmacies nationwide. I’m going to have to trawl the smaller pharmacies to find the Super Hydrator serum. I’m a woman on a mission, yo!

What I like about it: Very similar to my favourite Super Hydrator serum from the same range. Leaves the skin soft and looking radiant. This serum and the Super Hydrator makes a mighty good combo.

What I do not like about it: The shimmery bits. If the serum doesn’t contain the shimmery bits, I’d be able to use this at night as well if desired. Oh well.

Have you tried this serum or any of the skincare in the Line Smoothing Complex range by Dr LeWinn’s? If you managed to find the Super Hydrator serum, please let me know!

PS: I hope I’m not the only one who understood the video game anecdotes in this post. 😛
