Epcot International Food & Wine Festival 2014

We spent last week in Disney World. We chose this particular week because it was the last two days of the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival and the start of Christmas in the parks.
The Epcot International Food and Wine Festival is held in the World Showcase area of Epcot.
There are lots of kiosks set up all around the World Showcase with food and drink offerings.
The prices for each food item vary, but most are under $10.
This was our second time attending the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival.
We went last year and it was so much fun!
We were super excited that Epcot extended the festival a week so we could do both the festival and Christmas.

China
Mongolian Beef in Steamed Bun with Chili Mayo
China was the surprise favorite for me on this trip.
I am not a fan of Chinese food, but I decided I would give the Mongolian Beef a whirl.
O-M-G! I LOVED this! I ate about 5 of these in 2 days. *oink oink*
Chicken Legs told me I was going to turn into a Mongolian Beef Steam Bun.
I am going to try and recreate this at home!

Black Pepper Shrimp with Sichaun Noodles
This was delicious. The noodles were delicious!

Beijing Roasted Duck in Hoisin Sauce
Chicken Legs had the duck.
He said it was good, but the Mongolian Beef was better.

TSINGTAO Beer
We tried Tsingtao Beer.
Tsingtao is the world’s most popular beer (I’m guessing since there are so many people in China).
It was actually really good!

France
Boeuf bourguignon
Braised short ribs in cabernet with mashed potatoes
Crazy good! The beef was melt-in-your-mouth tender.

Tartelette aux escargots
Escargot tart with garlic, spinach, bacon and parmesan
Chicken Legs ate this and loved it.
I didn’t sample this. Because, snails!

La Passion Martini Slush
vodka, Grey Goose Le Citron, cranberry and passion fruit juice
YUM!

Germany
Schinkennudeln: Pasta gratin with ham and cheese
I was excited to try the food in Germany, since I just got back from Munich.
This cheesy pasta was SO good.
The recipe is in the festival cookbook. I can’t wait to try this at home!

Roast bratwurst in a pretzel roll
This bratwurst was just as good as the ones I had in Europe.
I prefer the skinny brats over the big fatty brats that are typically served in The States.

Berliner: Yeast doughnut filled with apricot jam

This Berliner was good, but not as good as the one Amanda and I had in Munich.
The one in Munich had granulated sugar on top instead of powdered sugar.
The granulated sugar made the difference!

America – Hops and Barley
Florida grass fed beef slider with pimento cheese
This was great! The beef was so good and juicy!
I did have to scrape off all those raw onions – I don’t do raw onions.

Baked Lobster Alfredo
Chicken Legs LOVED this.
This recipe is also in the festival cookbook.
We have plans to make this after Thanksgiving.
Belgium
Belgian Waffle with Warm Chocolate Ganache and Whipped Cream
How could this not be good?!?!
Brazil
Crispy Pork Belly with Black Beans, Tomato, and Cilantro
We both loved this.
The pork belly was smoky and delicious.
The black beans, tomato and cilantro were amazing.
We could have just eaten the beans and tomatoes!

Pao de Queijo – Brazilian cheese bread

This was the best Brazilian Cheese Bread I’ve ever had.
Look at all that amazing cheese!!!
Hawaii
Tuna Poke with seaweed salad and lotus root chips
Hawaii was a favorite from last year. We couldn’t wait to go back and samples our favorites!

Chicken Legs could have eaten about 100 of these.
The tuna was perfect.

Kālua Pork Slider with sweet and sour Dole® Pineapple chutney and spicy mayonnaise
This was my favorite from last year and it was just as good this year.
I have the recipe for this – can’t wait to have this at home.
Ireland
Warm chocolate pudding with Kerrygold Irish Cream Liqueur Custard
This was another favorite from last year.
This is like a gooey chocolate brownie. The custard is amazing.
I could have eaten a ton of these!
Italy
Filetto di pollo, con funghi al marsala
Chicken tenderloin, cremini mushrooms, marsala sauce and ciabatta bread
This was just OK. It was good, but not fabulous.

Ravioli alla caprese: Cheese ravioli, tomato sauce, mozzarella, parmesan and basil
This was really good, but not as amazing as last year’s ravioli.
You can get the recipe for the Ravioli and Meat Sauce from last year here:

Cannoli al cioccolato
Chocolate-covered cannoli filled with sweet ricotta, chocolate and candied fruit
This was a really delicious cannoli.
Japan
Spicy hand roll: Tuna and salmon with Kazan Volcano sauce
Chicken Legs is a big sushi fan and loved this Spicy Hand Roll.
Mexico
Rib eye taco
Marinated rib eye, roasted chipotle salsa and grilled scallions on a corn tortilla
This was my absolute favorite food item from last year.
I couldn’t pass it up this year.
It was SO good.
I loved it, but the Mongolian Beef Steam Bun in China surpassed the taco this year.
Patagonia
Grilled beef skewer with chimichurri sauce and boniato purée
The Patagonia booth was new this year.
I think they just renamed Argentina to Patagonia because the food was the same as Argentina last year.
This beef skewer was SO good! I wanted about 10 of them.

Beef empanada
This was just OK. It tasted good, but not as good as the beef skewer.

Desserts and Champagne
Frozen S’mores featuring Monin® Toasted Marshmallow Syrup
This was a favorite from last year, and it was just as delicious as we remembered.
It is a frozen chocolate slushy topped with chocolate and marshmallows.
I could drink this every single day!

We ate SO much in such a short amount of time.
We skipped the Canada booth because we ate dinner at Le Cellier.
I will be posting all about our Disney World Eats next week.
