Solid week for corn, soybean inspections

USDA reports corn and soybean export inspections for the week ending October 16 were above what’s needed weekly to meet USDA projections for the 2014/15 marketing year, while wheat was short of its mark.

Wheat came out at 481,878 tons, up 25,911 from the week ending October 9, but down 101,138 from the week ending October 17, 2013. For the 2014/15 marketing year to date, wheat inspections are 10,518,417 tons, compared to 15,644,590 in 2013/14.

Corn was reported at 717,065 tons, 222,062 lower than the previous week and 103,202 less than this time last year. So far this marketing year, corn inspections are 5,693,495, compared to 3,768,796 a year ago.

Soybeans were pegged at 1,991,537 tons, 544,294 higher than the week before and 304,202 more than last year. At this point in the marketing year, soybean inspections are 5,942,969 tons, compared to 4,800,395 a year ago.

Sorghum inspections totaled 307,427 tons. That’s an increase of 177,327 tons on the week and 208,830 on the year. 2014/15 sorghum inspections are 1,247,706 tons, compared to 630,373 in 2013/14.
