Riding horses without helmet is risky business
Riding horses for pleasure or around the farm puts riders at risk of significant injury if they fall. A while back we talked with horse trainer Zane Volkmann of Missouri who was severely injured in a horse riding accident, suffering a brain injury. With the help of Missouri AgrAbility, he made his way back to health. But, he tells everyone that he now wears a riding helmet every time he’s on a horse. In this Hoofbeat program we talked with Joe Brajdich, AgrAbility & Farm Health and Safety Intern who says everyone should wear a specialized horse riding helmet when riding a horse to decrease the risk of head injury.
