Gluten Free Cereal from Malt-O-Meal

My mother never asked what cereal I wanted for breakfast when I was a child. There were exactly two types of cereal in the kitchen cabinets. Corn flakes and Farley’s Rusks. This is not exactly accurate. There were other cereals for sale in England in the 1980s. Most were variations on corn flakes, which I didn’t like. So choosing a cereal was easy…Farley’s Rusks was my cereal of choice.

Fast forward to my freshman year, where I regularly stood in the college dining hall looking at the cereal table…literally unable to decide which cereal to have. There were at least six types of cereal. SIX! The choices were many and varied. I could and did have a different cereal every day.

We eat it for breakfast, as a snack, and sometimes even for dinner! Each of us has a favorite cereal. @DadKnowsBetter likes chocolate-y cereals and corn flakes. I like multi-grain cereals. The kids like oatmeal, chocolate-y cereals, and fruity cereals. I buy whatever is on the shelf at Costco. When I am in the grocery store, I shop with coupons and keep an eye on which cereals are on special with that grocery store’s “savings club.” I love a good deal.

Malt-O-Meal reached out to me to see if my family wanted to try a couple of Malt-O-Meal cereals. We are cereal lovers, but had never tried any Malt-O-Meal cereals. Did you know that there are 28 different Malt-O-Meal cereals? I was surprised at how many cereals there were. And did you also know that Malt-O-Meal cereals cost less, ounce-for-ounce, than leading boxed brands? I’m all about saving money as you know, so I was anxious to try out these cereals.

My local Food Lion is tiny and only had two varieties of Malt-O-Meal cold cereals, so I purchased both…Fruity DynoBites and Tootie Fruities. The kids loved both. Fruity Dyno Bites are crispy rice puffs with 10 essential vitamins and minerals that are gluten-free. I was pleased to read that Tootie Fruities have no artificial flavors. The cereal is made with multi-grains and 12 essential vitamins and minerals. These Malt-O-Meal cereals are not made with high fructose corn syrup.
