Vilsack ‘keeping the job I got’

To hear it from U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, he’s sticking with his job for now.  With the departure of Attorney General Eric Holder, Secretary Vilsack is one of only two cabinet members in their original appointed positions.

When asked about Washington Post speculation that he may be on the way out, Vilsack made it sound as if that is not the case.

“I’m not quite sure where the Post gets its information,” said the Secretary, “the only thing I can figure is they must be talking to my grandkids who occasionally ask if I’m coming home to Iowa.”

What Secretary Vilsack adds, presumably tongue in cheek, makes it seem as if he doubts his future employability.

“At this point in time, unless the President has different thoughts about this, I’m keeping the job I got because I’m not sure I can get another one.”

In addition to Vilsack, Education Secretary Arne Duncan remains the only other member of the Obama Cabinet in the position he’s occupied since the beginning of the administration.
