Disney Mickey & Friends 2014 1/4oz Gold Proof Coins

The Perth Mint has started accepting orders for six different gold proof coins celebrating some of Disney’s most famous cartoon characters. The coins feature Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Minnie Mouse, Daisy Duck, Goofy, and Pluto.

Disney Gold Coins

The six coins feature the same designs as 1oz silver proof versions which went on sale last month. Each of the characters is depicted in full against a film reel background. Inscriptions include the character’s name, the precious metal weight and purity, and the Disney copyright.

The coins are struck by the Perth Mint and issued by the New Zealand Mint as legal tender of Niue. Each coin is struck in 1/4 ounce of 99.99% pure gold to proof quality with a diameter of 20.60 mm.

A maximum mintage is 1,000 coins for each design has been indicated. The coins are offered for sale individually or within a six coin pack. The first 50 six coin packs sold will contain matching numbered certificates.

The product pages for the individual gold coins or six coin packs can be found on this page of the Perth Mint website.

Looking at the previous Disney themed products, the 1/4 oz gold proof Steamboat Willie and 80th Anniversary Donald Duck coins are shown as sold out or unavailable. These coins had been limited to mintages of 1,000 each.

The 1 oz silver proof Steamboat Willie coin has sold out of the 10,000 maximum mintage. The remaining 1 oz silver proof coins including the 80th Anniversary of Donald Duck and the six new designs still remain available for sale.

I order them from New Zealand Mint instead of Perth Mint. It is much easier to order gold and silver Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck proof coins.
