Concerns about propane supply

With fall and winter approaching there is concern about the propane supply for drying what could be a very wet corn harvest.  Cinch Munson, director of agriculture business development for the Propane Education and Research Council (PERC) says the propane industry continues to produce more propane every year.

And, he says, it’s enough to meet the industry’s demand.  “We have plenty of propane out there,” he says.  “We’re really looking to make sure we get it in the right spots.  We have lots of people in the industry working hard to make sure they’re able to get the propane where it is needed.  We have companies in the Midwest and in the northern Midwest that are increasing their fleets and adding rail cars to make sure they are able to meet demand.”

Munson tells Brownfield the propane industry is doing its part to be prepared – and is asking its customers to do the same.  “One of the things we ask them to do is talk to their propane marketer,” he says.  “We want them to talk to their marketer about early fills, about refills, and automatic refills.  And, if they need to, talk to them about payment plans.”

Another tool, he says, is the website www.propanecomfort.com – to help customers better prepare for fall and winter.
