Elanco and Dow AgroSciences enter R&D agreement

With the growing global population and increased demand for food, two Indiana agricultural companies are working together to help livestock producers increase meat and milk production.

Elanco and Dow AgroSciences have announced a strategic research and development agreement that will leverage the strengths of Elanco’s animal health business with proprietary germplasm and feed technologies of Dow AgroSciences to develop innovative solutions that can increase the efficiency, quality, and productivity of livestock for the world’s ranchers and livestock producers.

According to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, demand for meat, milk, and eggs will increase by more than 60 percent in the next few decades.  Jeff Simmons, president of Elanco says delivering enough high quality meat, milk, and eggs to feed the growing population is one of the greatest challenges of our time.

Tim Hassinger, President and CEO of Dow AgroSciences says, “Together, we will be looking for ways to develop total solutions that involve improving both the carrying capacity of the land and the health and productivity of production animals to help our customers meet the needs of the growing world.”
