Good week for corn, soybean inspections

USDA reports corn and soybean export inspections for the week ending September 11 were larger than expected, while wheat fell short of its’ mark.

Wheat came out at 545,621 tons, up 13,052 from the week ending September 4, but down 718,925 from the week ending September 12, 2013. For the 2014/15 marketing year to date, wheat inspections are 7,614,624 tons, compared to 11,473,841 in 2013/14.

Corn was reported at 741,230 tons, 456,155 less than the previous week, but 228,496 more than this time last year. Early in the current marketing year, corn inspections are 1,466,782 tons, compared to 720,119 a year ago.

Soybeans were pegged at 255,020 tons, 81,288 more than the previous week and 174,245 larger than last year. At this point in the marketing year, soybean inspections are 333,608 tons, compared to 130,969 a year ago.

Sorghum inspections totaled 147,410 tons, an increase of 83,097 on the week and 1,178 on the year. 2014/15 sorghum inspections are 210,009 tons, compared to 247,303 in 2013/14.
