Shirokuma Rice
by Barbara Zandvliet on 08/18/2014 | 1 Minute Read
Japanese designer Ishikawa Ryuta produced this incredibly adorable and heart tugging package design for rice wholesaler Shirokuma.
Shirokuma translates into "polar bear" in the Japanese language, so Ryuta used the concept as inspiration for the delightfully cute and captivating illustrations used to communicate the brand's trustworthy personality.
The paper-based packaging is natural-looking and the utilitarian twist-tie formations at the top are a convenient and sensible way to protect and contain the product. An exercise in rustic form, the simple construction of this packaging allows the beautiful graphics be the centerpiece of the design.
