Tom Ford Intensive Infusion Concentrate Extreme: A Luxurious Face Oil To Splurge On

Tom Ford Intensive Infusion Concentrate Extreme

Let me just start of by saying two things. Firstly, I actually received this months ago but only started using this about 7 weeks ago purely because I couldn’t bear to take it out of the box. The box it came in, the packaging … oh it’s gorgeous. Unfortunately, I accidentally damaged the box just before photographing the serum for this review (sigh, don’t ask. My heart breaketh over cardboard) so you’ll just have to check it out in store to know what it is that I’m actually talking about. And I lost the photos I took of the ingredients* list. ARGH.

Secondly, and I believe we really should get this out of the way first because it is Tom Ford after all and you know that it’s going to cost a bomb. And it does. A whopping AU$325.00.

But wait! Don’t let the price tag turn you off just yet because if you are looking for that luxurious, silky smooth, absolutely divine dry face oil, this is it. The Intensive Infusion Concentrate Extreme is the one.

I’ve tried a number of face oils from Clarins, Kiehls, Trilogy, A’kin, etc and the only face oil I enjoy prior to this is the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate. While that one does a good job, this Tom Ford serum brings face oils to another level. It’s very light (lighter than Kiehls’ MRC), absorbs very quickly and most importantly, it doesn’t leave the skin greasy. I’m very particular about how face oils should feel on the skin and any hint of greasy residue is a big no no for me given that I do have combination skin.

The face oil leaves my skin very hydrated. Now that it’s getting even colder, my skin often gets dry patches around the top of the cheeks and chin. I think the more appropriate term for what this serum does is that it nourishes the skin. Don’t expect it to brighten your skin or reverse the signs of aging because it doesn’t do that. It just leaves the skin feeling very soft and nourished, which is exactly what I needed this winter. There’s a very subtle scent of lavender too, which is why I like to leave this for my evening skincare routine.

This is the serum I use whenever I use any strong chemical exfoliators, exfoliating pads, masks etc to calm my skin down in case it starts to flare up or to make sure my skin doesn’t flare up. So far, it’s doing a very good job.

I’ve been checking out reviews on this serum prior to trying it out and sadly, it didn’t receive rave reviews. A lot of them mentioned that the product was mediocre for the price tag. While I agree with the gripe about the price, for me, this serum worked well for me. I wasn’t expecting it to after reading all those reviews but thankfully, it did.

This sort of luxe is what I’d expect of Tom Ford and this certainly did not disappoint. Of course, as I mentioned earlier, the price is steep for this one. It’s probably something I wouldn’t purchase on my own only because it’s expensive, not because it’s not good (as you’ve read earlier, it’s quite the contrary). If you’re looking to splurge on a nourishing serum especially this cold winter, do check this one out.

Tom Ford’s Intensive Infusion Concentrate Extreme retails at AU$325 for 30ml and is available at selected David Jones stores nationwide.

What I like about it: Gorgeous packaging, ultra-light, leaves no greasy residue, skin feels nourished.

What I do not like about it: Very expensive.

Have you tried any of Tom Ford’s skincare? Did you like it/them? If not, is there a particular one you’d like to try out?

*As I’ve lost the photos of the ingredients list, I did a bit of Googling and found them here.

Oh my! $325 is truly a whooping price tag. I don’t think I’d bear to take it out of the box for a long time too if it were me. It sounds really good for winter though.

I know right? To be honest, while it’s a gorgeous face oil, it’s not worth that hefty price tag even for Tom Ford. It’s always quite a big jump from the US price too, which is US$250. I checked online; none of the big stores that normally ship to Australia would allow this serum to be shipped to Australia. Hmm I wonder why …

Tine, it’s not completely related with the post but do you think Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery will help reducing my skin dehydration?

Hi Efrain, a really good recipe recommended to me by Paris B for instant skin hydration and oomph is to mix a couple of drops of the Kiehls Midnight Recovery Concentrate with the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair serum. It worked really well for me. Do give it a go. If it’s just the MRC, I think it will help too. 🙂
