Job Title: Graduate Well Cost Engineer

  1. Purpose

The purpose of the Graduate Well Cost Engineer is to capture, track and forecast all costs for Well Engineering operations.

  1. General Responsibilities
  • Responsible for supporting the Well Engineering team in all areas of cost reporting, cost estimation and cost control.
  • Provide SAP Reporting
  • SAP Requistioner for goods and services
  • WCE and AFE Control
  • Provide cost data as required to meet departmental reporting requirements.
  • Provide hands on training for the above.
  1. Specific Responsibilities
  1. Operational Support

The Graduate Well Cost Engineer will be responsible for learning to conduct the following operational activities. During the training process it is expected that the trainee will take responsibility for these activities when they are suitably competent to do so.

  • Compile daily value of work done figures for all Well Engineering operations.
  • Maintain comprehensive cost records.
  • Comprehensive reconciliation of Final Well Costs vs AFE.
  • Responsible for tracking all costs/expenditure against all AFE’s.
  • Assist in preparation of future drilling cost estimates and well AFE’s using historical cost information and industry knowledge.
  • Ensure that Drilling Department cost records reconcile with official Finance ledgers.
  • Ensure that allocations provided by Finance Team are reviewed, approved and incorporated into drilling cost records.
  • Assist in the management of rig and service contracts and assist with the pre approval of contractors’ invoices.
  • Provide cost data as required for routine Well Engineering Cost Reports.
  • Provide forecast to complete information as and when required.
  • Provide monthly accruals to Finance for all Well Engineering activities.
  • Maintain and develop cost breakdown structure as required.
  • Raise SAP Requisitions for Good and Services as required.
  • Report SAP Contractor reports and PR / PO ledgers.
  • Provide pro-former invoice SAP input provide the three way matching
  • Become a department SAP Superuser
  • Assist contract holders with contract support and invoice handling.
  1. Relationships
  • Build effective relationships with internal stakeholders, service companies, other operators in Ghana and GNPC.
  • Mentor and develop staff.
  1. Training
  • Trainee to managing their time effectively.
  • Trainee must working to the correct standards – this role requires 100% accuracy and diligence..
  • Trainee will be trained in Well Engineering and Rig Operations to fully appreciate and understand the drilling process and the importance of costs and invoice control process.
  • Trainee will be given 3rd party supplier training as required.
  1. Qualifications
  • Fluent in English both written and spoken.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to establish good working relationships with WE team.
  • Degree in engineering / business administration and relevant industry experience.
  • High proficiency in IT and industry software including:
  • MS Suite
  • Maximo
  • WellView
  • SAP
  • Kildrummy
  1. Experience
  • Basic Well Engineering understanding.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role supporting ongoing operations.
  • Awareness of spend profile in Well Engineering operations.
  • Experience of Offshore Drilling, Completion and Workover operations in remote locations.
