Tomorrow, July 9th, Hilton will be changing just a few of their hotel’s category levels. This is a very small change as only 39 hotels are impacting in the entire Hilton umbrella. Out of these 39 hotels, 15 hotels are decreasing in category and 24 hotels are moving up a category or two. While I am glad there is no massive change, you will want to pay attention to this list of hotels increasing in categories. You have until end of day today to book these hotels at the current rate. There are some desirable hotels that I am bummed to see changing.

Some good changes:
- Hilton Surfers Paradise in Australia is going from a category 8 to 7
- Conrad Beijing is going from a category 8 to 7
- Fiji Beach Resort is going from a category 8 to 7
- Waldorf Astoria Panama is going from a category 6 to 5
- Capital Hilton in Washington, DC is going from a category 8 to 7
Some bad changes:
- Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Visa is going from a category 5 to 6
- DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Hotel Orlando, Lake Buena Vista is going from a category 5 to 6
- Homewood Suites by Hilton New Orleans is going from a category 5 to 6
- DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Nashville Downtown is going from a category 6 to 7
- Bahia Mar Fort Lauderdale Beach, a DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel is going from a category 5 to 7 — a 2 category increase, and this is a great hotel in a great location!
- DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Grand, Key West is going from a category 6 to 8 — another 2 category increase!
- DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Breckenridge is going from a category 6 to 8 — another 2 category increase!
- Embassy Suites Napa Valley is going from a category 7 to 8
Even if you aren’t 100% sure of your travel plans, book now and cancel later (assuming a flexible cancelation policy). I personally will be speculatively booking the DoubleTree in Breckenridge for this winter as it is a good deal at a category 6 hotel in peak season – not so much though for a category 8.
