Supporting Indiana’s National Guard

h2014_National_guardThe Family Readiness Group provides support for soldiers of the Indiana National Guard and their families.  Last week, ahead of the 4th of July holiday, participating CountryMark fueling stations hosted the sixth annual Fueling Freedom Event.  Fifty cents for every gallon of fuel pumped and $1 for every gallon of lubricants sold were donated to the local National Guard Family Readiness Program.

Ryan Maris with the Family Readiness Group says all the money raised stays local.  “The funds are going to support the families of an individual company, group or battery,” he says.  “Basically it supports the families of that unit of soldiers.  The wives, husbands, children, and even parents and grandparents of our soldiers.”

Nancy Nance is the petroleum manager for North Central Co-op.  She says participating in the event was an easy decision.  “As I got ready for this event this week – I got so emotional because it’s so dear to my heart,” she says.  “It’s brought the community together – everyone has been down here supporting it and trying to raise funds.  And right before the 4th of July – it’s like an Independence and Freedom Day.”
