The bonus is capped at the ability to purchase only 10,000 points and the bonus amount depends on how many points you buy.
How To Purchase Miles
That means, if you max out this promotion, you can get a total of 15,000 points (10,000 purchased + 5,000 bonus) for only $275. That brings the cost of the points down to $0.0183 per point.

Terms And Conditions
Transactions must be completed between 12:01 AM ET May 15, 2014 and 11:59 PM ET June 30, 2014 to be eligible for bonus points. Points may only be purchased online and not through the Service Center. Points will be posted to your Amtrak Guest Rewards account within 72 hours after your transaction is complete. Members may buy or receive up to a total of 10,000 points in a calendar year (Select Executive members have no annual limit). Purchased points do not count toward Select, Select Plus or Select Executive status. Transactions are final and non-refundable. Offer limited to member and member number addressed in this communication. All other terms and conditions of the Amtrak Guest Rewards program apply.

You can sometimes save on the price of tickets by using points that you purchased through large bonus offers like this instead of just buying a ticket. If you have an upcoming train ride you’d like to take or like the price of these points, consider purchasing through this promotion.

Um, unless I’m missing something, Amtrak’s standard coach class one-ways in the Northeast are 4,000 points, Acela First Class is 12,000.
am i missing something? I don’t see the promo on the AGR web site and if I try to purchase points, it doesn’t show the bonus… is there a special link?
