Update on the AA schedule changes….

I posted yesterday about changes to a trip I had with AA to the Caribbean in the autumn. In short, the schedule changes meant misconnects in Miami, which AA had done nothing about.

I have a further booking for November, that I decided to check after my post. It turns out that AA had done some work on this booking – by changing my flight to a red-eye the night before my booked departure date! Had they told me about this? Of course not!

A further 15 minute phone call to the US reservations office elicited another overnight in Miami, followed by a lost night in Cancun.

However, on the way to New York on the return, I was able to get the agent to book me on USAirways via Charlotte to JFK. This got me thinking – I am actually earning more BA Tier Points this way as US doesn’t sell it’s flights to the Caribbean in Business Class, like AA does. They sell them as First – hence an extra 20 Tier Points.

This might be a tip for other people collecting with BA and rebooked by AA – checkout US flights you might be able to secure a few extra Tier Points.

  1. Based on my experience, this may be that AA just made the schedule change and hasn’t notified you yet — ultimately they will sort things out and let you know. Your departure is September isn’t it?
