SPG’s new promotion offers 2x points till July 2014

Starwood launched their new promotion for the summer months of May through July 2014, and it is the regular 2x points per stay promotion they do many times over the past years. This time around, it is called the Earn Away Get Away, and earns you 2x points on all eligible stays (excluding Award nights and Cash+Points), and 3x points if your stay includes a Sunday as well. If you’re in the Middle East, Saturday counts instead of Sunday for the 3x points.

This means, you earn 4 points per $ if you’re not an elite, and 6 points if you choose to bring in the weekend at an eligible SPG property as well. And yes, you get your elite bonuses as well. The good part is, there are no minimums so every stays counts unlike the other promotions where you do at least 5 stays to be able to count. And there is no maximum as well, so you get as many points as the number of stays you make.

Registration is required by June 30, 2014 and I recommend you do it right away because it does not hurt you at all.

There is a list of 150 properties that are not participating in this promotion, and in India, there are 4 which won’t participate:

  • Four Points by Sheraton Visakhapatnam
  • ITC Rajputana, Jaipur
  • The Westin Gurgaon, New Delhi
  • The Westin Sohna Resort & Spa

So if you’re contemplating any stays at an SPG property, do register. And if you are not elite, here is a quick way of getting SPG Gold status with a MasterCard.
